Plai Essential Oil
Plai essential oil has amber color and passionate scent. Plai oil extract is herbaceous plant that consists of big rhizome. Rhizome of plai contain the highest level of an essential oil that has the odor of violets which are used for flavoring in cooking and widely use in pharmaceutical applications. It has been reported as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, anti microbial, and inhibit infection. That why, Plai oil is popularly use as ingredient for balm, cream, gel and spray for anti inflammation, reduce symptoms of sprains include pain of muscles.
Two major compounds of plai essential oil, namely sabinene (30-50%), terpinen-4-ol (20-30%) and others are (E)-I-(3,4-dimethyoxyphenyl) butadiene (DMPBD) 1-15%, %, γ-tepinene 5-10% and α-tepinene 2-5%. Plai oils are complex mixtures, the composition type and amount depends on the species of the plant and part, harvesting season, extraction method and environmental factors. The number and quantity of Sabinene compounds differ with the age. Plai (age more than 1 year) has high amount of Sabinene. Both sabinene and terpinen-4-ol have high anti oxidation activity.
